MFS equipment
Nose stimulator
A device used to support work on nasal breathing, individually fitted at the clinic

What is the nose stimulator?
The MFS nose stimulator is a silicone device with two tubes joined by a stabilising band. The flat surface rests against the nasal septum, while the convex surface and tab act around the nasal alae. The outer rim limits insertion depth.
How it may support therapy
The device acts around the nasal alae and may support work on airflow and a shift from mouth to nasal breathing. A physician or a therapist trained in function regulators sets the use and any size changes at follow-up visits.
Who it is for
- Mouth breathing at rest or at night
- Nasal alae collapse during inhalation
- Snoring after its cause has been medically assessed
- Support within myofunctional therapy after a functional assessment
Sizes and fitting
The device comes in seven sizes: two paediatric and five larger sizes. A physician or a therapist trained in function regulators selects the diameter after measuring the nostrils and chooses the smaller size when unsure. The size may change during therapy.
How the device is placed
Step order is in the text; numbers on the images are visual only

1
Prepare
Wash your hands. Check that the device is clean and undamaged. Sit comfortably in front of a mirror.

2
Place the tubes
Gently insert the tubes with the flat side toward the septum. Do not force the device. A correctly fitted size should sit without pain.

3
Stabilise
Check that the band rests comfortably and the rim is not too deep. Breathe calmly through the nose and confirm comfort.
Contraindications and precautions
- Do not use in children under 5.
- Warning: keep the device away from heat sources and do not boil or scald it.
- Do not use a damaged device or a size that causes pain or abrasion.
